Mr. & Mrs. Accidental Bavarian will be in Leavenworth April 1 - 4. If you'd like to meet while we are in town, see our contact info at the bottom of this Email.
We're celebrating March as our anniversary month! While we initially launched Accidental Bavarian on Labor Day 2009, it was very basic. On March 4, 2010, we launched our full website with links to each of your businesses. So we're 1 year old, barely a toddler, but things are really hopping. Tourist traffic and local Leavenworth traffic to our website is soaring. Tourists love Leavenworth and they're searching online for businesses like yours.
We're looking forward to the future of Accidental Bavarian and being part of the Leavenworth community for years to come.
Thank you!
Our first full year providing fans, visitors and newcomers to Leavenworth with news and reviews has been amazing. We've made the acquaintance of so many wonderful Leavenworthians and had support from so many of you via our website, Facebook page and Twitter feed. We can't possibly name you without the risk of leaving out someone, so let's just say,
"Thank you. You know who you are. Your words of encouragement, re-Tweets and Facebook posts mean a lot to us. We hope to keep on giving Leavenworth the same sort of encouragement you've given us. Some of you have asked, "Why do you do this?' Our answer is pretty simple. We love Leavenworth."
So, thank you. We wish the very best for all of Leavenworth and are thrilled to be a part of Leavenworth, however small.
We have over 100 fans on Facebook! It's a great place to connect with people who live in Leavenworth and those who live elsewhere but want to stay connected with the village. Find us on Facebook here. Like our page and see what's up.
Some of our favorite Leavenworth oriented Facebook pages are:
This is just a handful out of the ones we know about. Visit our Facebook page to find more Leavenworth Facebook profiles.
Our Twitter feed is Leavenworthy, where we have over 200 followers. If you're unfamiliar with Twitter, following some Leavenworth Twitter feeds is a great way to get started. You don't have to post tweets yourself to get tweets. Those you follow will send out short messages (140 characters or less) about what's happening in Leavenworth, specials for their business or they might share a snapshot of what's going on right now in the village.
You can check out our Leavenworthiest Twitter list for links to Leavenworth Twitter accounts. Right now we have 34 accounts listed. If you know of others we'd like to hear about them.
"Why do I need a good website, or a website at all? Isn't it just to sell things on-line? I don't want to do that."
Selling product on-line is only one reason of many to have a website. And it's usually not the primary reason.
Just as you spend time planning your shop to pull people in and encourage them to buy, and just as you spend time making sure your signage and other printed material is just right, you want your website to present your business to the world.
People are looking for you on the Internet. They want to contact you, either by phone, or Email, and most importantly to come to your business so they can purchase what you have and they want.
For this to work, you need to make it easy to find you, and easy to contact you. Your past and future customers should want to come back to your site often to see what's new. That's why it's important that you update your website regularly. Keep things fresh. It's also important to keep things fresh and updated in order to be found by search engines. That's how customers find you.
Do you offer a unique product or service? That's what your clients or customers are looking for when they do an Internet search. When they do contact you, by phone, Email or personal visit, welcome and treat them as you would want to be treated.
To accomplish these goals for your website, you need a website developer who listens and takes the time to understand your business and your needs. Be involved in the process of your website development. You know your business and your customers best.
If you don't have someone you can count on to do this with you, we also provide website development via Front Street Webs. Please contact us if you need to update your website or if you want us to create a new website for you.
In the last newsletter we announced the newly posted Leavenworth Job Bank. We've already had a couple of businesses sign up and post job openings. With tourist season just around the corner, now is the time to get signed up so you can post positions you need to fill.
You'll need to get a password from us to enter jobs into the database. Go to our Vendors page to contact us for a password and to add a job to the database or to edit or remove jobs you've entered. Jobs are posted only for the time period you choose.
There is no charge to either the job posters or the job seekers for this service. It's our gift to Leavenworth.
The job bank for job seekers is at www.LeavenworthWAJobs.com.
Remember, now is the time to order your reusable "I Found It In Leavenworth" bag. It will continue to advertise Leavenworth and your business after people go back home. We offer a variety of types of bags with the familiar gazebo and facades of Front Street and "I Found It In Leavenworth" printed on the side. See our "I Found It In Leavenworth" (www.IFoundItInLeavenworth.com) site for pictures, pricing and ordering information.
We maintain links from our website to every business in Leavenworth we've been able to find. We want to make sure the information we have for you is as complete as possible and provides value for potential and returning tourists who come to our site and for you as well. For that we need your help.
Please come to Accidental Bavarian and check your information, and the link to your site. We've included links for every business we've found in Leavenworth (and we found over 900!). If we have any incorrect information, or if you feel we have categorized your business incorrectly, please go to our "Are You a Local Business?" link at the bottom of each page and send us an EMail. Your business can be listed under more than one category. For example, if your Bed and Breakfast also hosts weddings then let us know that.
We also have a new Pet-Friendly Leavenworth page. If you have a pet-friendly business, and don't find your business listed, then give us a shout and let us know. We'd be delighted to add you.
And if you have suggestions for future additions to the website, please let us know that as well.
We love Leavenworth and do our best to encourage people to visit. We created Accidental Bavarian to look at Leavenworth from a tourist's perspective. We promote tourism in Leavenworth by providing travelers information they need to plan a fun-filled, happy experience in the Northwest's Little Bavaria. We currently do this as a hobby and are not backed by any group of businesses in Leavenworth. We offer independent reviews and provide our own opinions.
Please link your website to ours. Click here for sample code you can include on your website to provide a link.
We also provide website development via Front Street Webs. Please contact us if you need to update your website or if you want us to create a new website for you.
While we've now identified over 900 businesses in our database, we've only found Email addresses for about half of them. Please pass this Email on to anyone you know who has not received it and encourage them to Email us with updated information about their business.
So Fritzi and Mitzi, the Accidental Bavarians, say "Herzlich Willkommen, Leavenworth!"
