The major advantage of domestic travel is that, with a few exceptions such as Miami, most domestic locations are conveniently situated right here in the United States.

Mitzi’s Most-Excellent Adventure

Fritzi’s favorite Leavenworth activity is eating. Mitzi’s is shopping! A day in Leavenworth is a day of shopping!

You Know You’re in Leavenworth When…

…you smell the sauerkraut. (“I love the smell of sauerkraut in the morning!”)
…you consider sauerkraut as a pizza topping

After a filling breakfast Mitzi’s ready to hit all of her favorite shops. Fritzi follows close behind doing what he calls the “shopping shuffle.” (All you guys probably know exactly what he’s talking about.) One of their first stops will be Haus of Angels, with Collectibles from many designers. Collectibles in Leavenworth come in every imaginable variety. Mitzi’s favorite angel collectibles are Jim Shore and Willow Tree.

The chilly wind is just the excuse Mitzi needs to stop at The Hat Shop! Fritzi’s pretty sure Mitzi has a hat back in the hotel, but he’s keeping his mouth shut. He’ll want to visit The Black Swan novelty t-shirt shop later. Clothing stores in Leavenworth carry everything from baby clothes to high fashion; outdoor clothing to shoes.

Christmas shopping happens year round in Leavenworth. Mitzi wants to pick a romantic Christmas ornament for their tree this year. Kris Kringl is a year round Christmas store. Mitzi and Fritzi spend the rest of the morning perusing the many themed Christmas trees for just the right ornament, settling on a pair of lovebirds.

Shopping resumes after lunch. Mitzi’s in the mood for new Jewelry. Pearl earrings or a charm for her charm bracelet will make a great souvenir!

While Mitzi dawdles in the jewelry stores, Fritzi finds his way to Der Man Shoppe, one of his favorite Specialty stores. After they each finish their respective shopping, they meet up at A Book for All Seasons, where they pick up an autographed copy of the latest book by their favorite mystery writer.

On their way back to the hotel, Fritzi suggests a stop in a Wine tasting room. Mitzi’s parents are celebrating a momentous anniversary soon. A nice bottle of wine will make a lovely gift.

After dinner, the Accidental Bavarians stop in their favorite art Gallery. They’ve been discussing a new art purchase and finally decided on one they both love.

It was a rewarding day. After a long soak in the whirlpool tub Mitzi falls into the eiderdown covered bed. As she drifts off to sleep she’s planning another day… shopping!
